The GMW-B5000 has the iconic square design and shock resistance of the original G-SHOCK (DW-5000C), but with a metal exterior achieved through cutting-edge technology. This model features a laser-etched grid design that expresses its legacy of genuine strength, transcendent of time.
As the iconic square design of G-SHOCK continues to evolve. A laser-carved grid design can be seen in the new GMW-B5000CS.
Design & Technology
Black Ion-Plated and Laser Engraving
After a black IP finish is applied to the watch’s metal parts, the grid pattern is engraved by laser onto the case, band and even part of the back case.
Screw-Lock Back Case
An eye for minute detail is employed in the diamond-like carbon (DLC) finishing process and laser etching.
Full-Metal, Shock-Resistant Structure
Fine resin cushioning material is inserted between the stainless-steel case and bezel, and the module is enclosed in a protective shell. This creates a shock-resistant structure with a metal exterior, while maintaining the form of the very first G-SHOCK.*Image shows GMW-B5000D-1.
Connective Part of the Band
The band connection sections employ a three-pronged structure to distribute the impact from shocks.*Image shows GMW-B5000D-1.
The specially developed button structure combines large cylindrical forged buttons with internal pipes that guard the vulnerable button shafts from the inside against lateral shocks.*Image shows GMW-B5000D-1.
Super-Illuminator (High-Intensity Full-Auto LED Backlight)
The Super Illuminator function lights up the LCD with high-intensity light, to ensure readability in the dark. The light features a fade-in/fade-out function.*Image shows GMW-B5000V-1.
As with the base model, the GMW-B5000CS is equipped with smartphone connectivity that makes automatic correction four times a day, city setting for world time, and other settings easy, and provides other exceptionally practical features such as radio wave reception, tough solar power system, and smartphone connectivity enabling automatic time correction.
As G-SHOCK is a brand that focuses on innovation, the new GMW-B5000CS features a grid design in the image of a time tunnel that connects the past with the future while maintaining the heritage of that first model—DW-5000C that was released in 1983. This is a “near-future” design with prominent silver lines forged by applying black ion plating finish to the bezel, band and buckle surface while bringing out an underlying colour scheme using a laser to carve out the latticed pattern.
